I've started working on this and just released a short preview video of the feature's current state: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZsFRBlWhSQ
Let me know what you think, any feedback is greatly appreciated! :)

Leo Bernard: Just watched your preview on YouTube. Looks awesome! The only feedback I have would be to allow use of a mono-spaced font and implement the ChordPro format as the means by which to add/align chords. These two things would be a dream come true! :D
Edited to add that obviously not all of the ChordPro format would be needed. Just the means of adding chords to lyrics in plain text. Example below:
Swing [D]low, sweet [G]chari[D]ot,
Comin’ for to carry me [A7]home.
Swing [D7]low, sweet [G]chari[D]ot,
Comin’ for to [A7]carry me [D]home.

Steven Miller: This will be implemented in the final version of the lyrics feature. I haven't seen the format you used here yet, but I'm already working on supporting the multi-line format that Ultimate Guitar uses. Adding the format you mentioned looks fairly straight-forward.
Leo Bernard
Steven Miller, I've just implemented the first version of support for chords with both ChordPro and Ultimate Guitar-style lyrics. I'm still unsure about the alignment of text. Would you prefer lyrics with chords to be left or center aligned?
S
Steven Miller
Leo Bernard: I'm accustomed to left-aligned! Could make it user-configurable in an update maybe?
Leo Bernard
Steven Miller: That's already possible in the current beta! You can read more about the available styling attributes here: https://beta.ableset.app/docs/lyrics/

Would definitely use if implemented! We currently maintain plaintext chord charts in the ChordPro format (https://www.chordpro.org) and display using Planning Center's Music Stand app. Have experimented with other apps such as OnSong as well with limited success. If AbleSet added the feature to display the ChordPro format in a browser, with progress forward/backward synced to Ableton playback, it would be a far superior solution. The only easy way to currently achieve this functionality at scale (far as I know) is to use the Multitracks.com integrated solution.
Bonus points for adding the ability to transpose the displayed ChordPro chords or display them as numbers/numerals!! :D
This could almost even be a secondary offering separate from AbleSet..

Leo Bernard: Man, you're a wizard. I've been trying to do something like this using OSC and Max for Live devices, but this will be SO much more elegant. Bravo. Will this be in V 2.0?
Leo Bernard
Mike Drennan: Yeah, I hope to be able to release it this quarter. Let me know if you're interested in trying out the beta :)

Leo Bernard: yes I’d love to be a beta tester. Especially since V2 includes OSC commands, which was my own feature request! Lyrics support is icing on the cake.
